SECURITY & AWARENESS
Sharing safely is the whole point.
Baanto is designed so that you never have to give away more than you want to, not your address, not your phone number, not your time.
How the app protects you
📍
Only an approximate area
Your listing shows a rough area, never a street address. An exact pickup point is something you choose to share, later, only with the person you accepted.
💬
No open messaging
Nobody can message you out of the blue. A chat only exists because you accepted a request for one specific item, and it closes when the handover is marked done.
🚩
Report and block
Every listing and every chat has a report option. Blocking is instant and does not notify the other person.
🗂️
A short safety record
Closed chats disappear from your app. A copy is kept for 30 days only, so that a report can still be investigated, and is then deleted.
Meeting someone for a handover
A few habits make almost every handover uneventful:
• Pick somewhere public and busy, outside a shop, a mosque, a park gate, a building lobby. Daylight is better than dark.
• Bring someone with you if you would rather not go alone, and tell a family member where you are going.
• Keep the conversation inside the app until you have met. There is no reason to move to WhatsApp or hand over a phone number.
• If someone pressures you, asks for money for food, or wants to come to your home, stop and report them.
• You can cancel at any time, for any reason, without explaining yourself.
Food safety, plainly
Do not share food that has been sitting out for hours, that has already been reheated more than once, that smells or looks wrong, or that is past its date. Say clearly when it was cooked and how it has been stored, and mention egg, meat, dairy or nuts, someone at the other end may have an allergy or may not eat certain things.
If you are collecting, look at the food before you accept it. It is completely fine to say no.
Scams and pressure
Nobody on Baanto will ever need your CNIC, your bank details, an OTP code, or a payment "to reserve" an item. Anyone asking for those is not using the app the way it is meant to be used, do not send anything, and report the account. Baanto staff will never ask you for a code or a password.
If something goes wrong
Report it from inside the app first, so the item and the chat are attached to your report. You can also email us at contact@baanto.pk. If you feel unsafe or a crime has taken place, contact the police on 15, an app report is not a substitute for that.

Look after each other
Most people using Baanto are simply neighbours with something spare. A little care on both sides keeps it that way.
