How food sharing works
Snap a photo and post
One clear photo, a short description, roughly where you are and when the food can be collected. Add an expiry if it is something that will not keep.
Someone nearby requests
Your post appears in the nearby feed for people within 3 km, 5 km or 8 km. They send a request - you are never obliged to accept.
Chat, meet safely, done
Chat opens only after you accept. Share an exact pickup point only if you are comfortable. Mark it given away and the chat closes.
Food is always free on Baanto
There is no price field on a food post and never will be. If anyone asks you for money for food they listed here, please report them from inside the app.
Check before you share, check before you eat
Only offer food you would happily serve at home. Say clearly if it was cooked today, if it has been refrigerated, and if it contains egg, meat or nuts. If you are the one collecting, look at it before you take it, and do not take anything you are unsure about.
Sharing earns you something back
You collect points and badges - First Food Share, Community Helper, Kind Heart, Local Hero - for food that actually reaches someone. Posting alone does not count.
What about things that are not food?
Furniture, clothes, books and household bits are coming in a later version - some free, some cash on pickup.
