OUR MISSION
Baanto means to share. That's the whole idea.
Every day, good food in Pakistani homes, bakeries and wedding halls is thrown away while someone a few streets over goes without. Baanto exists to close that gap.
Food does not fail because there is too little of it
It fails because it never reaches the person who needed it. Trays of biryani come home from a wedding and sit until they spoil. A bakery closes with a shelf of bread that will not be sold tomorrow. A family cooks for eight when six turn up. None of this is anyone's fault - there has simply never been an easy, dignified way to pass it on.
Baanto is our attempt at that missing step: a free, quiet, one-minute way to offer what you have to the people who already live around you.
Neighbours, not strangers
We are not building a marketplace or a social network. There are no public profiles to browse, no followers, no open messaging. Every conversation on Baanto is attached to one item, opens only when the person giving it away accepts a request, and closes when the handover is done.
That is deliberate. The smaller and more boring we can keep the interaction, the safer and easier it is for everyone - especially for women, who told us plainly that they would not use anything that let strangers message them freely.
Built for how Pakistan actually gets online
Most of the people we are building for are on a phone, on mobile data, often outside a city centre. So Baanto stays light: no video, no heavy imagery, small pages, and features that work when the signal is poor. Being usable matters more to us than looking impressive.
